Satyamma Bharadwaj was born on 7th October 1935 in Gadwal, Andhra Pradesh. Her father was Aasthan Vidwan of Gadwal and a royal astrologer. She did her PhD in Botany and went on to become a lecturer in Reddy Women's college. She worked for forty years in the same college from ]uly 1957'to August 1997. After retirement in 1993 she worked as director, PG courses and administrator ofthe college. She got many awards in her career and took part in many social service activities. Some got the prestigious Smith-Mundt Fulbright Scholarship from United States Educational Foundation in India. State award for the best teacher by Government of Andhra Pradesh was awarded to her. Gold medal was awarede to her for standing All India first in Jyotish Praveen from ICAS. She was awarded the title of Jyotis Vidwan by Arsha Vidya Parishat of Hyderabad. Jyotish Saraswati was awareded to her from Grahavani. She was given Lifetime Achievement Award by ICAS in the Silver jubilee year of ICAS 2010.
